Verlagsinformation :: Publisher's information The Bibliography of Pragmatics Online is an annotated bibliography of the field of linguistic pragmatics, conceived as the interdisciplinary (cognitive, social, and cultural) science of natural language use. It covers topics from traditions that belong or have contributed to pragmatics in substantial ways (from accommodation theory, analytical philosophy and anthropological linguistics, to cognitive linguistics, construction grammar, conversation analysis, discourse analysis, literary pragmatics, neurolinguistics, psycholinguistics, relevance theory, sociolinguistics, speech act theory, and universal and transcendental pragmatics, to name just a few). Published electronically, it is a flexible research instrument which, in the initial phase, combines the data from the older -- printed -- bibliography (up to 1985) with publications from the period 1993-2002. Annual updates will then gradually bridge the remaining gap while providing the relevant new data. The Bibliography of Pragmatics Online incorporates Jan Nuyts & Jef Verschueren, 1987, A Comprehensive Bibliography of Pragmatics, 4 vols. The Bibliography of Pragmatics Online primarily addresses the needs of students, researchers, scholars and experts on language and linguistics, and places the field of research known as pragmatics at its center of interest. But the publication is anything but intended for only a particular group of students and academics: it wants to address any individual with a personal or professional interest in the problems of language use and communication, such as: - linguists - sociologists - anthropologists - historians - philosophers - communication specialists - marketing professionals - journalists - writers - teachers - translators and interpreters - literary critics - politicians - public service servants - lawyers - medical practitioners - behavior therapists - social workers - psychologists - business managers - human resource professionals - (intercultural) organization specialists - media specialists - information specialists |
