The Wiley InterScience Tribology Backfiles Collection is set to launch in Spring 2006, just as the discipline of celebrates its 40th anniversary! Tribology is widely known as the branch of engineering that deals with the friction, wear and lubrication of contacting mechanical components. The development of new tribological techniques is recognized as vital to solving problems associated with friction- and fatigue-related damage to industrial machinery resulting in expensive down time. Research into advanced tribological systems therefore plays and important role in improved industrial competitiveness, productivity, quality and reduced costs.

With more than 20 years of digitized back-issue content across the three leading journal titles, the Tribology collection provides a unique backfile resource for researchers. The Journal of Synthetic Lubrication offers a forum for reporting on the design and tribological properties of synthetic lubricant oils for highly specialist automotive, aerospace and other industrial engineering applications. The importance of synthetic 'lubes' will continue to increase with the global depletion of mineral oils. Lubrication Science is a journal dedicated to advancing the understanding of lubricant and lubricant additive design, formulation and performance in tribological systems. Tribotest focus on the theory, development, and use of methods for testing tribological elements or systems, including lubricants and surfaces.

Backfile journal articles are presented with the article body in PDF and header material and references in HTML, thus allowing both internal (i.e., within Wiley InterScience) and external (CrossRef/DOI, PubMed, ISI Web of Science, CAS, etc.) linking.

Benefits of the Tribology Backfiles Collection

  • Immediate access to more than 15,000 pages of research
  • From the 1st issue onwards: convenient search functions of all titles and all years
  • HTML headers and footers as per Wiley InterScience standard allowing full citation linking
  • One-time purchase involves no running costs; customers pay once for ongoing access and reduce their storage costs
