Cornell University Press was established in 1869, giving it the distinction of being the first university press to be established in the United States. From that beginning, the Press has grown to be a major scholarly publisher, offering over 100 new titles a year in the humanities and social sciences. Cornell's many books in the life sciences and natural history are published under the Comstock Publishing Associates imprint, and a distinguished list of books in labor and employment relations, the health care professions, and human resources is offered under our ILR Press imprint.

Hundreds of these titles are now available through Cornell Scholarship Online which currently contributes to 20 UPSO subject collections. These are written by prominent authors such as historian Mary Beth Norton, eminent music scholar Elizabeth Eva Leach, anthropologist Ilana Gershon, the historian and classicist Éric Rebillard, and Daniel C. Kurtzer — the former U.S. ambassador to Egypt under Bill Clinton.

Cornell Scholarship Online is available through the University Press Scholarship Online platform.
