Verlagsinformation :: Publisher's information The Wiley Interscience Physics and Astronomy Backfile Collection, launching in Spring 2006, presents a unique overview of the development of physics and astronomy during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The collection spans 820,000 pages of historical papers and is the largest subject backfile published on Wiley InterSceince. These nine journals chronicle the vanguard research that shaped the disciplines from their infancy, most notably Astronomische Nachrichten, founded in 1821, and Annalen der Physik founded in 1799. As the world's oldest and most renowned journals in the field, their seminal issues were published in German, which at that time was the lingua franca of the physics community. Albert Einstein published numerous papers on the theory of relativity, plus 50 other papers in Annalen der Physik. Backfile journal articles are presented with the article body in PDF and header material and references in HTML, thus allowing both internal (i.e., within Wiley InterScience) and external (CrossRef/DOI, PubMed, ISI Web of Science, CAS, etc.) linking.
