SA Cat Plus is a federation of databases, consisting of SACat, SANB, UCTD, Current & Completed Research Projects, Navtech and Subsidie. This database group offers bibliographic information on material stored in South African libraries, material published in South Africa, theses and dissertations at master and doctorate level submitted to South African universities and current and completed research projects undertaken at South African technikons. It also lists periodicals approved as research platforms.

This is a comprehensive database group with the following bibliographic databases:


Co-operative, computerised database of all library stock in Southern Africa. Includes books, journals, conference proceedings, standards, technical reports. Updated weekly.


Compilation of books, pamphlets, government publications, microforms, maps, technical reports, and periodicals published in South Africa. Updated monthly.

Book Data:

Full bibliographic information on: in-print, new and forthcoming titles. Supplied by predominantly British and European publishers, as well as some Australian, US and South African publishers. Updated monthly.


Bibliographic records of theses and dissertations at Master and Doctorate level submitted to universities in SA since 1918. Updated annually.


Information on current and complete research projects undertaken at Technikons across SA. Updated annually.


Lists all periodicals approved as research platforms. Updated annually.

Current & Completed Research:

South African research projects in economics, science, humanities and includes the masters and doctoral theses from the South African Universities and technikons, as well as the research works from the government, non-government and private sectors.


The Fiction database has been updated with records from the SACat, expanding and enhancing the database to 209 975 records. The database includes different formats of fiction records e.g. printed, braille and sound recordings, from various library collections in Southern Africa. The database is updated monthly.
