Upon completion, the U.S. Congressional Serial Set, 1817-1994 will contain nearly 14,000 volumes and more than 10 million pages from the original 350,000 publications, along with 52,000 maps and thousands of illustrations and statistical tables. Partnerships in a national effort Readex has partnered with academic institutions and government organizations to provide high-resolution, full-color digital images of every publication in this collection, each of which features fully searchable text and full bibliographic metadata. In cooperation with the Dartmouth College Library, Readex is digitizing the complete Serial Set from the outstanding printed editions housed in the Baker-Berry Library. Readex is digitizing 13,000 color maps from the Library of Congress. Also, Readex and Stanford University are creating Dublin Core (DC) records for every publication in the collection. Its contents come not only from the U.S. Congress, but also include key Executive Department publications. Beginning with Volume 1 in the first session of the 15th Congress (1817), the Readex U.S. Congressional Serial Set, 1817-1994 contains all publications from the 15th through the 96th Congresses. Readex's digital edition of the American State Papers, 1789-1838 - which contains every legislative and executive document of the 1st through 14th Congresses and more - complements the U.S. Congressional Serial Set, 1817-1994 and is cross-searchable with it.
