Die Sammlung "Imperial China and the West, Part II: 1865–1905" bildet die direkte Fortsetzung des ersten Teils (1815–1881) und dokumentiert die turbulente Endphase der Qing-Dynastie und die Interaktionen Chinas mit den westlichen Mächten. Die Sammlung besteht primär aus digitalisierten Akten des britischen Außenministeriums, die im Nationalarchiv des Vereinigten Königreichs (The National Archives, Kew) aufbewahrt werden (FO 17: Foreign Office: China mit allgemeiner Korrespondenz zwischen dem britischen Außenministerium und seinen Vertretern in China und FO 83: Berichte von Rechtsberatern (Law Officers), die juristische Aspekte der britischen Präsenz in China beleuchten).
