InteLex Past Masters


InteLex corporation's Past Masters series includes significant collections in the history of political thought and theory, religious studies, education, sociology, the history and philosophy of science, economics, and classics.

InteLex acquires and develops definitive editions of the full corpora of the seminal figures in the history of the human sciences, including published and unpublished works, articles, essays, reviews, and correspondence.


Texts are available in their original language (English, Latin, French, German, Danish and Dutch) in addition to English translation.

The InteLex Past Masters portfolio currently comprises over 130 full-text editions which belong to the following three sub-sets:

COLLECTED WORKS / PHILOSOPHY
The Collected Works / Philosophy series encompasses the largest collection of full-text electronic editions in philosophy in the world.

Authors represented in the collection include St. Anselm, Descartes, Fichte, Feuerbach, Hegel, Kant, Leibniz, Kierkegaard, Wittgenstein, Peirce, Dewey, Emerson, Bacon, Boyle, Darwin, Spencer, Hobbes, Hume, Locke and many more.


THE ENGLISH LETTERS COLLECTION

The English Letters Collection contains correspondence, diaries, memoirs, and notebooks from Thomas Becket (b 1118) to I. A. Richards (d 1979), including Bacon, Hobbes, Boyle, Locke, Defoe, Fielding, Sterne, Johnson, the Wordsworths, Coleridge, Austen, Tennyson, Charlotte Brontë, George Eliot, Newman, Hardy, and Yeats.
The English Letters Collection is of fundamental importance to scholarship in all the branches of British history, especially literature and philosophy.
Authoritative editions from Oxford University Press and from Pickering & Chatto are featured throughout.

As with all Past Masters titles, English Letters titles reproduce definitive print editions in highest quality electronic form. All of the print apparatus is included and is fully searchable.


THE WOMEN WRITERS COLLECTION

The Women Writers Collection is a growing collection of full-text databases, each with the works and/or correspondence of important authors such as Jane Austen, Aphra Behn, Charlotte Brontë, Fanny Burney, Mary Shelley and Mary Wollstonecraft.
Texts are usually the definitive critical editions from presses like Oxford University Press and Pickering & Chatto. Where critical editions are not yet available, the series reproduces the original titles (in The Major Works of Jane Addams, for example). In all cases, the collections include the critical apparatus from the print versions.

Searching
Accessing the contents is simple and straightforward. Simple and Advanced full-text search options enable searches to be restricted to specific titles, authors or subject areas whilst features such as textual notes, pagination and export citation ensure that users of all levels can use the resource efficiently. Users can search across the collections in seconds using simple or complex search strings.

Semantic indexing and controlled vocabularies are applied to the texts to facilitate research and this combined with powerful XML web-based search and reference tools, ensures that the Past Masters series' continue to allow for new avenues of research to be discovered and explored.



Licence and pricing policy
All titles within the Collected Works / Philosophy series, The English Letters Collection and The Women Writers Collection are available to purchase – individually or in any combination – on a perpetual access basis with a small annual access & maintenance fee payable

from year 2. Pricing is based on institution type and size.

Licenses permit unlimited multiple concurrent users and allow for remote access to authorized users.
